Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
So, I inadvertently already did a post kind of in this vein. But there were more than ten! đ If you’d like to check out all my answers, please check out my Tea & a Chat post, “You Might Be Obsessed WIth Books If….
1.You Read Several Books In a Week
I can’t tell you how many times my family has balked at the sheer number of books that I’ll read in a week, sometimes. There are weeks where I’m so busy that I’ll just read one, of course. But, admittedly, as of late, I’ll try to get through at least three in a week. Which means, on average, I can probably read about 100 books a year. That’s kind of insanity for me. I won’t waste my time telling you what my weeks look like with cleaning, play dates, and homeschooling four kids…
2.You Talk About Books A Lot
It’s a problem… I get excited about a new release of a book cover that is just beyond gorgeous and I HAVE to talk about it with someone! So, do I keep it inside to placate those nearest and dearest or do I just let it rip? Well, to the chagrin of my family, I will, occasionally share book tidbits with them, even though they could care less. Fortunately for me I have a very supportive family who listens…even if it’s just to humor me.
3.You Read More Than One Book at a Time
So right now, I have about three books that I’m reading and one that I’m listening to on Scribd. It’s ridiculous, really. And sometimes one or more will kind of get “forgotten” for a minute. But, I really do like being able to go back and forth between books that may be different genres since I’m a serious mood reader.
4.You Have Book-Related Subscriptions
Right now I’m down to just two book subscriptions; Kindle Unlimited and Scribd. But, I’ve been subscribed to more in the past. Sometimes I just can’t get enough books!
5.You Have Several Unread Books On Your Bookshelf
I’m not going to pretend that every time I just “HAVE TO OWN” that book that I pick it up and read it right away. No, there are several times that I get the book and it goes right on the bookshelf…And stays there…Unread. For awhile. I’m totally ashamed, yet totally won’t ever stop.
6.You Never Went to Sleep Last Night
I won’t even lie and pretend that there haven’t been days that I’ve run on empty. Sometimes I’m reading a wonderful book and I keep telling myself that I’ll just read one more chapter…And then one more chapter turns into the whole dang book.
7.You Carry a Book Around With You
Yup. I do it. I always have a book in my bag. I purposely carry tote bags that are big enough for all the essentials; hair brush, make-up, first aid supplies, and a book. Okay, truth time: I actually own a Book Beau that holds both a book and my Kindle. It’s ridiculously large.
8.You’ve Forgotten to Eat While Reading
I’ve, literally, gone all day, up until dinner, without eating due to being busy and then picking up a book and forgetting all else. Let me be clear: I wasn’t even hungry. So, everyone else was fed, but I just wasn’t feeling it. Why eat when reading can sustain you?
9.You’d Rather Read Than Have Sex
I was asking for opinions about what it means to be obsessed with books and got this one. I almost didn’t include it because, well, this has never happened to me and I can’t honestly understand it. BUT, I think I had to include it because it’s the most hilarious response I’ve gotten and I just know some of y’all qualify for this one!! C’mon…Admit it! We’re all friends here!
10.You’ve Been Late Somewhere, To Finish Your Book
You’re reading, reading, reading…It’s a great part to the book, and next thing you know hours have slipped by and you are having to race around to get out the door. Don’t lie. If this hasn’t happened to you; you know someone who it has happened to.
Yes, always bring a book with you. You Never know when you’re going to need it!
That’s my philosophy!!! đ
I’ve forgotten to eat while reading, too.
My TTT .
I can dig everyone but #9. http://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/03/ttt-033120.html

I have never done the subscriptions, but that is not due to lack of interest, but rather, because I am cheap. I love seeing what everyone gets, though.

I actually have several THOUSAND unread books on my bookshelves. True story, especially since I have two large bookshelves full of review books I haven’t gotten to yet. One of these days …
Happy TTT!

I can relate to many of these! In particular, being late somewhere. I was thirty minutes late to a class on my first day of middle school because I lost track of time reading in the library!
Now that I’ve got to homeschool one kid … I can’t even imagine how you get anything done homeschooling four. I was so not cut out for this. xD #9 is absolutely hilarious and made me snort out loud. I, um, may be guilty of doing this once or twice. Poor hubby. But you know, just when things are getting good and my favorite character might die is not the time, okay? Talk about killing the mood.

Haha! I can tell you, what you’re doing is probably harder! I started with one who was in preschool and then slooooowly went from there. Being thrown into it, unprepared… I have the UTMOST respect for you and other mothers like you!
Hehe…Hey, I get that!! That would be the WORST mood-killer!!
Thanks for commenting!
Ha this is great! I always have to have a book, or at the very least, have my Kindle app synced! And of course, all the unread books sitting around. I also always, always stay up too late so I definitely feel you there!
