Love hurts...
Makani Young thought she'd left her dark past behind her in Hawaii, settling in with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska. She's found new friends and has even started to fall for mysterious outsider Ollie Larsson. But her past isn't far behind.
Then, one by one, the students of Osborne Hugh begin to die in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasingly grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and her feelings for Ollie intensify, Makani is forced to confront her own dark secrets.

The perfect read for this spooky time of year, There’s Someone Inside Your House, begins with Makani Young, who has recently moved to a small town in Nebraska from Hawaii. The reasons aren’t altogether clear, at first–all we know is that her parents divorced, something awful happened with Makani at a beach, and they sent her to live with her grandmother.

We also know that Makani has started a relationship with a boy, Ollie, whom she still has feelings for–but isn’t currently talking to.

But, let me tell you, the first chapter of this book starts out with a bang. It’s very reminiscent of Scream… A slasher story with a killer who attacks students at the local high school.

This one kept me guessing and even though the killer was revealed halfway through, the anxiety of not knowing who they’d kill next or how–was ever prevalent.

This was a great way to get into the Halloween spirit!
