What happens when you’re on the run from your psycho ex-husband and your sexy younger boss goes into hiding with you to keep you safe? You slowly remember what it’s like to fall in love and hope he feels it too.
The Heart of Us is an older woman/younger man age gap, close proximity standalone romance.
This was my first Kennedy Fox book and I’m so glad to have read it!
One of my favorite tropes (after reading On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves) is a younger man/older woman romance. But, it has to be done in a way where the man doesn’t come off as needing to be mothered–and Easton was a wonderful example of this! He was everything that I could’ve asked for.
And Tatum, poor Tatum, is dealing with the aftermath of an abusive ex-husband. She’s trying her hardest to distance herself from him but he’s not making it easy.
Which is why Tatum and Easton made a wonderful couple that complement each other wonderfully. In a lot of ways, Tatum didn’t get to mature like normal because she was under the thumb of an abusive man for fifteen years. Easton brings out the fun side of Tatum and we get to see her blossom.
After reading this fourth book in the series, I may have to go back and read the others!
Younger man/older woman romances are the best. I wish there were more out there!
