Are you a re-reader? Are you like me and have books that you’d just love to be able to watch on the big or small screen?

There are so many times, when I’m reading a book, that I find myself wishing I could watch the story play out on TV. It doesn’t matter that I’m usually disappointed by the TV versions–I’m just always hopeful that my favorites will get optioned for TV and I can experience the story that way.

So, I’ve decided to share with you all just five of my top picks for books that I’d like to see turned into a movie or TV series.

The Tiger Saga by Colleen Houck

A saga of romance, adventure, dragons, Indian goddesses, and a love triangle that ripped my heart out– The Tiger Saga has been one of my favorite series for over a decade.

There were rumors of this being picked up for film, but that has since petered out. Which, is incredibly disappointing, to say the least.

The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost

Cat and Bones are probably one of my favorite book couples to read about. And, also, I have always loved vampire novels.

The idea of seeing people take on these rolls seems like it may be doomed to fail–when you love something so much, it’s hard to make it right, after all.

But I would love if they tried!

Mark of the Lion Trilogy by Francine Rivers

I’m sure most are familiar with Francine Rivers’ Redeeming Love. And while I love that book, I have to say I fell in love with Rivers’ writing when I first read The Mark of the Lion series. This series is a religious one. But while not being overly preachy–and mostly encouraging selfless behavior–this book was an inspiration to me. Pair that with the historical setting of ancient Rome–I’d love to see these as a movie or miniseries.

The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery

Now I absolutely adore Anne of Green Gables. But this stand-alone by Montgomery is just a brilliant story that appeals to an older audience. Valancy as a main character is a joy to read about. And her character arc is one that I feel more could learn from. I’d love to see this as a movie.

The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa

It has been a dream to see this series as a mini-series or TV show since I first finished it. As someone who just loves stories of the fey, I can’t think of many authors who’ve done fey as well as Kagawa. Even Holly Black’s take is slightly more macabre than this. And while equally as wonderful, these books have Ash–Need I say more?

Again, I add all these with a slight bit of trepidation, knowing that as soon as someone chooses to make a book into film or TV, there are always aspects that get sacrificed in the process. However, I’m one of those that likes to watch these “translations” anyway. I feel like it’s always going to disappoint slightly, but it’s always a joy to see some of my favorite scenes play out in front of my eyes.

Please tell me: What are some books that you’d to see on screen; big or small? Anything that’s already been done, that you’d like to be redone?
