Abducted during a devastating ambush, Clare is now the captive of ruthless mercenaries. Because if she lets the mask slip, even for a moment, the Mortisians will have no reason to keep her alive.
After arresting traitors close to the crown, Desfan fights to rebuild his court, knowing that the imminent arrival of the Devendran princess will further upset the precarious balance in Mortise. But Desfan’s world is rocked when he discovers a rumor that rewrites the most devastating event in his life. He will stop at nothing to find the truth–no matter where it leads.
As Grayson struggles to find his footing in Mortise, he discovers new friends and enemies. His life is further complicated by the tenuous alliance with his spymaster brother. With secrets deepening around him, Grayson must decide where his loyalties truly lie. Through it all, his heart remains in Ryden with Mia. Unfortunately, his love for her is no secret, and the Black Hand is a coveted weapon . . .
Eyrinthia holds its breath as allies and enemies collide. Secrets. Lies. Betrayals. Nothing will be the same.
Royal Captive is book 3 in the Fate of Eyrinthia YA fantasy romance series, and should be read in order. If you like swoon-worthy romance, complex characters, and non-stop action with epic twists, then you’ll love the captivating world of Eyrinthia!

I don’t want to spoil anything by revealing too much but–I just have to say that this series is one of my absolute favorite ever.

This continuation of this story just keeps getting better and better the more I read. The author seems to really be hitting her stride as the books keep growing and evolving and getting deeper.

I absolutely, positively cannot wait until book 4…

Heather Frost, what are you doing to me?!

Guest Post- Five Myths About Authors from Heather Frost

Over the years, I’ve gotten a lot of questions about writing. These have come from readers and aspiring authors, and I’ve noticed some common myths that I’d like to debunk.

Readers, you might find it interesting to know that your favorite authors are human!

Aspiring authors, you might be relieved to know you’ll fit in just fine with the rest of us!

  1. Authors only write when the muse speaks.

Nope! That’s a sure-fire way to never get anything done. Whether the inspiration is there or not, authors write. Sometimes we have to wrestle with every word, and other times it flows like Niagara Falls. Regardless, we keep at it. That’s the real secret to finishing a book: don’t give up. Keep writing. No matter what.

  1. “Real” authors write so well that even their first draft is polished.

Absolutely not! Every author is different, and so is their process, but the point of a first draft isn’t to be polished. It’s just supposed to be there. Over time (with lots of practice) you can write cleaner first drafts, but creating a masterpiece in one go isn’t the point. That’s where editing comes in…

  1. Authors are perfect at spelling and grammar.

Haha! No. Despite reading voraciously all my life, spelling has never come easily to me, and I had to learn the rules of grammar just like everyone else. In my first novel, I spelled “soldiers” as “solders”. My family got quite the laugh out of that, and I’m still teased about it! In my defense, I was 12…

  1. Authors don’t read reviews of their own books.

We totally do! And we LOVE reviews. They’re our bread and butter. Without reviews, many readers won’t know if the book is a good fit for them. A review can be as simple as “I liked this book!” So please, if you liked a book, take a minute and drop a review! It will truly make an author’s day.

Also, it’s fine if you didn’t like the book; we know not everyone will. There isn’t a book on this planet that everyone likes! You can give it the star rating you feel is accurate for your experience and you can say what you didn’t like about the book, but I will put in a plug for being polite about it. Remember, authors are people, too!

  1. An author’s writing process never changes.

Nope! While I have a standard approach to writing, my process has evolved over time, and I definitely make adjustments for specific projects. What worked for one novel won’t necessarily work for another—even within the same series! My process for writing and editing had been totally different for Royal Decoy, Royal Spy, and Royal Captive. And that’s okay! Making adjustments, trying new things—it can lead to awesome results.

So there you have it. Five common myths about authors, thoroughly debunked! Hopefully you were able to learn something new, or at least be reassured that authors are, indeed, people.
