You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide…
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.
Being around Bones awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline rush of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head – wanted: dead or half-alive – means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard Cat tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever … and Bones won’t let her get away again.
You’ll want to skip this review if you haven’t read Halfway to the Grave as there will be spoilers from the end of that book.
So, One Foot in the Grave begins with Cat, who is now working for the government after fleeing to protect Bones, four years prior–to kill vampires–what Cat does best. She has a team of men behind her who help and who she has trained to be better fighters.
Cat also has a best friend, Denise, who knows what Cat does.
Cat is clearly not over Bones as she has failed to move on or have any other relationships since leaving him. In fact, the very presence of Bones is a force that seems to just hover over Cat and everything she does. How she ever thought she’d escape him is beyond me.
“She’s my kitten, and no one else’s.”
However, four year have gone by. Finally, Cat decides to date–the lackluster Noah (Oh, how often I’ve forgotten his name). And she tries to move on with her life. That doesn’t last long into the book, however, as Cat comes face-to-face with someone pivotal to Bones’ past.
And then, well, since it wouldn’t be a Cat and Bones story without both Cat and Bones– he does find her again. And–sparks. This couple. Bones (AKA Crispin) comes back with a vengeance and all he wants is his Kitten and to keep her safe.
“Why did he have to be so gorgeous? Why did he have to stand so close, and why did I still love him so much? ”
Cat and Bones go through obstacles both physical and emotional in this one. And would it be them if they didn’t?
Another superb story from Frost.
