This is another book that I’ve been meaning to read for so long now. And, it’s another one that I wish I’d taken the time to read sooner.

I’ve been busy reading retellings lately. All I can say is that maybe it’s because they bring about waves of nostalgia. Memories from my childhood of beloved stories that I couldn’t get enough of.

So far, all of them have been wonderful–Neverland, included!

If you’re expecting to meet a middle-aged Captain Hook who gets off on harassing young children–this is not Barrie’s Neverland. Not really. In some ways, we still get the pleasures of the former. Fairies, mermaids, damsels-in-distress… It’s all there.

But, oh so much sweeter, is the budding romance that Katmore’s novel includes. And familiar characters that are more dimensional than that of old.

Don’t take this book too seriously, however. Because, it may have added elements that make a girl swoon, but remember that it’s a young adult romance through-and-through.

Whimiscal, romantic, swoony, and dramatic. Give Neverland a chance if you enjoy a sweet fairy tale with familiar faces.
