May was the first month this year where it’s started to get really warm! And by warm–I mean the 80s. Which, given the temps back in California, where we’re from, the 80s have been fabulous. And, really, it’s been mostly the 60s and 70s so far.
I’m truly loving this weather so much. We’re more apt to have rain and lightning this time of the year here–which is just lovely.
We also went on our first day trip, as a family, in our surrounding area. We made a trip awhile back all the way over to Pierre (pronounced “peer”, in case you didn’t know–I sure didn’t), months ago. But we haven’t checked out our own backyard since we’ve been here. Here, in the Black Hills, there’s lots to see just an hour or two, kind of all around where we live. Mount Rushmore is only an hour from us.
So we made our way to Custer, Hill City, and drove past Mount Rushmore (which, you really get the full effect from the road). It was SUCH a fun day out with the family!
We also did our town’s annual Wine Walk & Putt, this last weekend. It was SO great! You walk around to local businesses with either your purchased wine glass or water bottle. Each stop is either a wine stop, water/snack stop, or mini-golf stop… Or a combination of these.
It was great walking around, seeing everyone laughing and enjoying themselves. It’s also fun to stop in the local businesses that participate and get a peek inside.
It’s doubly-fun because we have Angela’s (one of my sisterwives) mom, here, this week visiting us. So she got to come along, too!
Also, with Angela’s mom here, she is going to teach Alex (my other sisterwife), my two girls, and me to sew! She even gifted us a sewing kit and sewing machine. We all went and picked out our pattern and fabrics for the aprons we’re going to make. Which we’ll start sometime this week.
All-in-all, May was a fantastic month! I can’t wait to see what June brings!

No discussion posts this month! Waaaayyyy too busy!
What a great fun month you have had here. I think its great you were able to do a family vacation and look at all the great group of books you were able to read! I think that is amazing. And some great five star reads. I remember really liking The Hating Game.

You’ve got several books on your list that I can’t wait to read. I’ve always wanted to see Mount Rushmore, but haven’t had the chance yet. I should go ahead and do a driving vacation sometime, even if it’s by myself, just to see all the sights I haven’t seen yet.
