Flirting With The Grave…
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father – the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.
In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner – are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side … and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

I’m reviewing this book–FINALLY–after about my third or fourth read of it. I don’t know why I never reviewed it before now, honestly.

This book gets read every few years because of how much I truly love the story. Cat–or Catherine–as a main character is splendid. She is young, and sometimes extremely naive, but she’s incredibly strong and endearing. And her character growth over this book, in particular, is so well done. She goes from hating all vampires and making it her job to kill them all to falling in love with one.

“Usually my form of turning someone down was shoving a stake through his heart while smirking, Gotcha!”

Enter Bones. Bones is probably one of my favorite book characters. He’s charming, funny, intelligent, and his love for Cat is unparalleled. Seriously. I can’t think of anything he wouldn’t do for her. And how many times he saves her life and/or teaches her how to save her own life–it’s just perfect. Dare I say; he’s perfect.

This first book in the series is a great starter. It gives the reader all the basics they need to know about the vampires of Frost’s world. And also we get to see the progression of Cat’s and Bones’ relationship from hate to love.

“If you run from me, I will chase you, and I’ll find you….”

If you’re wanting to start this series, do it… Just beware that it is a continuing story and this one ends on quite the cliffy.
