Horror. Romance. Science. A classic tale that would be a fright to miss!
The idea for the story came to the author, Mary Shelley, in a dream she had about a scientist who had created life and was horrified by what he had made. This Gothic-style romance is among the first of true science fiction novels, if not the first. A young scientist named Victor Frankenstein, after going through his own near-death experience, decides to play God and create life in the form of a grotesque creature, which turns into a nightmare. Through his experience, he learns that the gift of life is precious, not disposable. His journey and personal transformation has deeply affected readers. This edition contains the text of the revised 1831 version of Frankenstein.
This beautiful book comes with luxurious endpapers, a beautiful and stylish heat-burnished cover, and is a convenient 5 x 7 trim size for easy handling. This widely popular classic tells a tale of devastating consequences for those pursuing power and glory.
Frankenstein is a must-read for any lover of classic literature and science fiction.

Not long ago, I signed up for The Classics Club Challenge. Where I would commit to reading fifty classics within five years. You check out the post, here, to see what I committed to reading.
Frankenstein was not what I thought it would be. I mean, I expected that I would be surprised by this book–but, I don’t think I got how much.
First of all, it’s true what they say–the true monster in this story is, arguably, Victor Frankenstein, himself. Taken up by the desire to create, Frankenstein makes a living-breathing creature.
And as soon as he makes this creature, he instantly regrets it and leaves him to his own devices.
What follows is a tale of horror and malice that I believe Frankenstein brought on himself. However, those near and dear to him pay the price of his arrogance and disregard for what is right.
The writing, though–this book is just fantastic in the style. It’s difficult to believe that Mary Shelley was so young when she wrote this.
And I won’t deny that I couldn’t put this story down–just waiting to experience the train wreck.

I read this one last week for the first time to cross off a prompt on my yearly reading challenge, and I felt the same way. It was not what I expected at all. For me, it was less scary and more sad. But yes, written so well for someone so young. <3

I haven’t read this but I definitely want to start reading more classics that I have been wanting to pick this one up here. It is pretty astounding how young she was when she wrote this one right?
