A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous break up.
Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the real reason why they split at the absolute height of their popularity…until now.
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go-Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.
Another band getting noticed is The Six, led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.
Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.
I’m going to say it: There were times I really hated Daisy Jones. You know, sometimes, the main character of a book just manages to irk you and set you on edge… That was Daisy for me.
But, admittedly, only sometimes.
So here’s the deal with this one. Daisy was young, she was doing drugs and that’s never going to bring out the best in a person.
However, I will say that this book was incredibly well-written. The interview format was just one of the best things about this one. I felt like I was reading a transcript of VH1’s Behind the Music.
And really, no one in this story was above reproach. Well, except maybe Billy’s wife, Camila…
Anyway, this story was just so reminiscent of the 70’s. Sex, drugs, rock and roll. With a very interesting cast of characters and a story I won’t soon forget.
I found this one okayish, but think I might have enjoyed it more as an audio book. Something different and I do understand the hype surrounding it!

I agree–it wasn’t as great as they hype made it seem. But I’m glad I read it!
I have heard some great things about this one, and it sounds like its very atmospheric. And I love your photo there! I love drinking tea in actual teacup like that!

Aww, thank you! Drinking tea out of teacups versus mugs is one of my small delights in life! 🙂
This book took me by surprise and I really loved it. A lot of the characters annoyed me as well, but I liked their mess.
