This was my first ever book by Laura Pavlov. As soon as I read the synopsis, I just knew that I’d love it.

I have a serious soft spot for friends-to-lovers romance. Especially when those friends are best friends. They usually portray two friends that are devoted to each other so wholly and beautifully that you can’t help fall in love with them as a couple.

“She deserved everything.

Vivian Thomas was the best person I knew. There weren’t many people that I loved deeply… but she was one of them. Hell, she was at the top of the list next to my sister and Mabel.”

Niko and Vivi (his Honey Bee) were all that and more.

What starts out as a close friendship from the time they are children, turns into more as Vivian finds herself in want of a relationship… Well, what she really wants is to have sex with a man who isn’t an ass.

“‘You need to make sure the next guy you date knows what he’s doing.’ He pulled into my driveway and jumped out of the car. He unbuckled me and placed a hand beneath my legs and the other around my neck.

I sighed as my head nuzzled against his chest. ‘Maybe you should have sex with me.’

He nearly tripped over the step leading to the front door. ‘You’re drunk, Vivian.’

He only said my name when he was mad or serious. I guessed he was serious this time.”

After some failed attempts, Niko–obviously the only man for her–steps up. Of course, this gets complicated in their quest to keep things simply at a physical level… Yeah, that doesn’t last long.

This story was so sweet. Because not only do we get the burgeoning romance between these two soul mates, but there is a whole large family dynamic here between Vivi and her sisters and her father.

Plus, Vivian’s dad and Niko are firemen–and there’s a other family dynamic there, with their fellow firefighters.

There’s a slight bit of mystery and drama–but that’s mostly kept to outside influences. Which makes the story all the more fun to read.
