He scared me. He thrilled me. And after one touch, all I could think about was getting more…
Makayla never thought she’d set foot in an underground mixed-martial arts club. But if anyone needs a medic on hand, it’s these guys. Trouble is, at her first sight of the club’s owner she’s the one feeling breathless.
All sleek muscle and restrained power, the man they call Torment plays to win at any cost. Whether it’s in the ring or in the bedroom, he knows exactly when to use a soft touch and when to launch a full-on assault. He always knows just how far he can push. And he’s about to tempt Makayla in ways she never imagined…

This one has been on my radar for quite a long time now and I was really excited to get it through Libby. I’ve heard from other readers about this book and couple that with the premise, thought it sounded pretty amazing.

All-in-all, I think this book slightly missed the mark for me. The romance fell short and the main characters were just a bit unrealistic and annoying.

Mac and Torment actually had a pretty great first encounter. But, from there, I felt like it was contrived and hurried.

Mac was a typical martyr heroine, that wanted to take on the world all by herself–even when it would’ve behooved her and not made her any less strong to get help… All just so she could keep her pride. This included putting herself in danger, unnecessarily.

Torment, was uber-controlling–which I can actually get behind–but, it was almost irrational at times.

The love scenes were decent, and the swoon was strong at times… However, I like a little bit more depth to my relationships and didn’t get that from this one.
