The woman who haunts his dreams
Secret agent Phil Cullen is upset when he discovers that the young woman he rescued from Mrs Newbody’s establishment has absconded from his housekeeper’s care without a word. Thinking he has been deceived, he resolves to forget about her… something easier said than done.
The man she wants to forget
Sophia Turner is horrified when she is duped into entering a notorious house of ill-repute. Then a handsome stranger comes to her aid. Desperate that no one learns of this scandalous episode, Sophia flees to the one friend she knows she can trust. With luck, she will never see her mysterious rescuer again.
But fate has other plans…
Months later, Phil is on the trail of an elusive French agent and Sophia is a respectable lady’s companion when fate again intervenes, taking their lives on a collision course.
Traitors, spies, and shameful family secrets - will these bring Sophia and Phil together… or drive them apart?

This book was exactly everything that I’d hoped it’d be. And there was absolutely no problems in that it wasn’t the first in the series.

Books based on this time period can be so hit-or-miss for me, but Hampson hit it out of the park! These characters hooked me and the plot kept me up reading this one through the night.

I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this one and felt like it was so wonderfully done–too much mystery and intrigue and I can get bored because I can feel like the author is just dragging the reader along. But, Hampson, beautifully crafted this story of a man haunted by a woman.

I’m definitely going to be reading the others in this series!

About Penny Hampson

I’ve been passionate about books ever since I first learnt to read. A common refrain at home was that I always had my nose in a book; things haven’t changed, even though I’m now somewhat older.
History is a passion too; it’s great that these two interests combine so well.
With degrees in history and historical research, I’ve spent my working life helping others to achieve publication; now I’ve decided it’s my turn.
My Regency stories are filled with mystery, adventure, and romance – my three favourite themes. I’ve enjoyed writing them and I hope you enjoy reading them.
